How to get people to read your blog

After writing my first entry, I was naively hoping someone would visit. I figured at least a spambot might be interested in my opinion, but nothing. So, I decided to research a little and try to find some information about "getting traffic to your blog". There was one thing that stood out to me which seems to be true about most publicity. Make it controversial!

So, in order to get traffic to this blog, maybe I should talk about sexist or racial subjects. If I were to say that I hate someone or something, maybe people would want to read it. Blogs seem to work like the nightly news; It has to have sex, violence or controversy or it just won't sell to the audience.

Maybe it's better for me to be in solitude, or maybe I will open up and actually start some controversy.

I just couldn't leave this space without filling it up with garbage, I mean words, just to make you feel better. And I think you might be right about your theory, but I would add to it - things educational. Or maybe - educational assignments. It is my spring break and I have nothing better to do (hahahaha or as we say in the Dominican Republic jejejejeje) so I shall look at the rest of your blog. btw, put a sitmeter on and you will see all the secret admirers you have.

Hello. I came to your blog from a google search after typing "how to get people to read your blog," since I'm not sure how to do that either. I've just started blogging too and don't have a clue. I'm curious about the sitmeter idea.

My blog is at:

Yeah so I got to your blog the same way Janalyn did. I have no clue what to do though . . . I don't write very often because people don't comment and people aren't going to comment ever if there's no comment! It's a vicious cycle.

I think it's a mix of networking, sucking up, luck, and yes, writing about something that applies to people and what they need, whether it's the answer to a question, or dishing some gossip or news, or just providing some random distraction. So good job, you have comments. You're obviously doing something right. :)
